John MacDonald Tournament
On Saturday October 18th the SCI Contractors Stratford Warriors Minor Bantam MD Team took on the Woodstock Jr. Navy Vets for their second game of the John MacDonald Memorial Tournament in St Catherines.
These two evenly matched teams battled hard for three full periods with good scoring opportunities on both sides. The Warrior’s Ethan Reid’s aggressive fore-checking caused a Woodstock turnover at their blue line resulting in a breakaway for Reid. Reid‘s hard accurate wrist shot scored with just 1:29 left in the 3rd putting Warriors ahead. Victory was insured 21 seconds later when Reid scored again with another accurate shot up over the Woodstock goalie’s shoulder. The defense of Neil Trainor, Ethan Biggs, Andrew Ivey, Kiran Wotherspoon and Josh Bossence played a solid game only allowing 10 shots on net. Goalie Paul Bennett made some strong saves getting his first shutout of the season. The SCI Contractors Stratford Warriors Minor Bantam MD Team’s 3rd game of the tournament is later today against the Niagara on the Lake Wolves.
