Last minute comeback in Burlington
Written by Dave Graff.  The SMHA Scotiabank Major Peewee rep Warriors began the second half of their Alliance Bristol season in Burlington on Saturday with a 3-3 tie against the Bulldogs White team. After out shooting the home side by a two to one margin the Warriors still found themselves down 3-0 with less than three minutes to play thanks to some nice playmaking and timely goals by the Bulldogs.

Cue the comeback; with Stratford on the power play and goalie Tallyn Soper on the bench for an extra attacker, Ethan Aarts slid a nice pass back to the Maverick Mulder at the point who made no mistake burying a nice low slap shot to get the visitors on the board with just over two minutes remaining.  Off the ensuing face off at centre ice the Warriors got the puck deep and with Erik Smith entering the play after coming off the bench for the goalie, a centreing pass found his stick in the slot and Smith quickly netted a high shot to pull Stratford within one with 90 seconds to play.  Jack Whitehead and Zach Carman help setup the Smith tally.  With the puck floating around in the neurtal zone after the face off at centre ice following Smith’s goal and with Soper again coming to the bench for the extra attacker, Aarts was able to corral the loose puck just outside the Bulldog blue line.  Using his speed and body position Aarts was able to get in alone on the right side and after pulling the Burlington goalie slightly out of position, buried the tying goal top shelf to salvage a point for the Warriors.
