Written by Dave Graff. The SMHA
Scotiabank Major Peewee Rep team took to the ice twice over the last 4 days in
Alliance hockey action and despite significantly outshooting the opposition in
both games, came out on the losing end in both matches.
Sunday in Brantford the 99ers made the most of their chances in the first period outscoring the visitors 4-1 and after standing up to the pressures of a consistent Warrior attack the rest of the way, added a second period goal for the 5-1 victory. Caleb Musselman scored the lone Warrior goal after a nifty Zach Carman feed from behind the net.
This past Thursday at the rec centre Stratford made the most of their 26 shots on net, scoring five times but the opposing Kitchener Rangers were firing on all cylinders and despite two late goals by Caleb Musselman the visitors hung on for the 6-5 victory. Sydnie Miller opened the scoring for Stratford with a nice end to end rush and deke on the Ranger goalie to tie the game early after the visitors had scored on the opening shift. Carman and Carter Musselman also scored. Caleb Musselman had three assists for a five point night while Jack Whitehead added two assists and Nathan Graff, Carter Musselman, Carman, Josh Nixon and Maverick Mulder one assist each.
