Late Game Comeback Falls Short
The Stratford Canadian Tire Major Bantam Warriors suffered a 4-3 loss to the St. Thomas Stars Wednesday night in the railroad capital, and now trail the Alliance Bristol A 6 point playoff final 5 points to 3.
Ethan Scrimgeour’s goal just 1:28 in got Stratford off on the right foot, a goal which stood as the only marker through the first frame. Kobe Robinson and Carter Lewis picked up assists. St. Thomas scored twice in the second, to go into the intermission up 2-1, and then scored two more in the third and held a 4-1 lead with 5 minutes to play.
St. Thomas ran into late game penalty problems, in a game filled with infractions, and Stratford capitalized with two Joel DenOtter power play goals in 33 seconds, the only assist on both goals going to Brett Maguire. Stratford had three and a half minutes to tie the game but were unable to get the equalizer and fell by the 4-3 score.
The Warriors face a must win in Game 5, Thursday night at the RBC in Stratford at 8:00 p.m.
