Mother Nature tried her hardest to give the fans and players of the Minor Atom MD Warriors a challenge to get to their recent Peterborough Lift Lock Tournament. The boys and their families experienced quite the weather as they drove ranging from rain, to ice, finally to snow. In spite of the challenging weather conditions their spirits were never shook.
The Warriors first faced off with the Stouffille Clippers. The Warriors were extremely excited to play on the same ice surface as the Peterborough Pete’s, who happened to be practicing right before their game. The boys watched in awe of the OHL players, and some were able to get a souvenir puck. The Warriors played hard against the Stouffille Clippers, but were unable to get one past the opposing goaltender, losing 0-3. After a long day of travel, the players and families looked forward to a little R and R back at the hotel.
Saturday saw sun, but very cold temperatures. The Warriors were off to Ennismore to face the Peterborough Petes. Again the Warriors were unable to get on the board losing 0-3, but showed extreme dedication, resilience and determination to get themselves ready for the next game. The third game of the tournament the Warriors battled the Pickering Panthers. The Warriors played with all their might, and were tied 0-0 until the last 12 seconds when Pickering managed to put in a fluke goal. Though the boys were unable to get a win in the tournament, lots of memories were made.
The Warriors were able to take in the beautiful scenery, enjoy lots of swimming, and some players even took in a Peterborough Pete’s game as they faced the visiting Ottawa 67’s. This weekend saw each player bring their full effort and extreme dedication to their team. A big thank you to all the families who made this weekend a great one for the players!
