Playdowns End for Warriors with Sweep of Oakridge
This past weekend seen the AJ Jackson Construction Minor Atom MD Warriors win two games and sweep the Oakridge Aeros in the first round of playdown action.
On Friday night at the Allman, the team defeated the Aeros by a score of 5-4. After scoring three first period goals, the Warriors held on after a late surge by the opposition to win 5-4. Ryan McGill played a solid game in net, while Matthew Benner, Owen Chadwick, Jordan Keane, Liam Ollson and Logan Hallock scored for Stratford. Assists went to Nick Wagner with two, Sam Binns, Liam Eddleston and Ollson. On Saturday in London, the Warriors came away with a 5-1 victory. Chadwick started the scoring on a great cross ice feed from Rowan Smith. Ollson and Binns then scored shorthanded markers thirty seconds apart to put the Warriors up 3-0 heading to the third period. Eddleston and Benner finished off the scoring in the third period with Binns and Ollson in on the assists. Call up Owen Chambers played well on defence and Lachlan Stanley was steady between the pipes for the Warriors. The next round of playdown action sees the Warriors play the North London Nationals.
