BUSY REGULAR SEASON ACTION WEEKEND

The Holloway Automotive Minor Atoms began their regular season with 3 quick games this past weekend. They came away with a win and 2 losses showcasing some great team play.

On Saturday in Stratford the boys faced off against Mustangs Purple to begin the regular season schedule. Despite carrying an early lead into the 2nd period the young Warriors could not establish an offensive forecheck against the strong-skating Mustangs and were eventually defeated by a 4-3 score. Mikel, Brenzil, and Hish tallied and helpers went to Martin, DeBoeck, Parsons,  Bridges and Cassone. Reed Bowles was strong in net stopping over 20 pucks.

Sunday morning began with a long bus ride to old East Hamilton. The Warriors brought their own version of "steely-reserve" against the Huskies and were never threatened in a 6-1 dominating win. Brenzil opened the scoring 15 seconds in from Mikel and White-Roy. Mikel, DeBoeck, Cassone and Bridgey all scored in the 2nd and Kibedi rounded out the scoring late in the 3rd. Hishon with 2, Martin, Brenzil, Bauld, Flanny and Holloway picked up helpers as the minor atoms evened their record at 1-1. Ethan Walters wasn't tested a lot but stood tall and made the saves when he needed too.

To end a busy 3-game in 3 day weekend the boys travelled to St.Thomas Monday night, where despite building a big lead completely ran out of gas in the 3rd period and ended up losing a heartbreaker 6-5. St.Thomas tallied first before the Warriors ripped off 5 straight goals. DeBoeck and Brenzil with 2 each and Mikel with one had the team well in front. Assists to Davis, Kibedi, Martin, DeBoeck, and Brenzil. However a Warrior win was not to be on this evening as coaches/players learned a valuable lesson about protecting a lead and giving your best until the final buzzer.

Despite the Warriors modest 1-5-1 record to begin the season, the Coaches are extremely proud of the effort thus far. Every game has been tight and with a few bounces the other way their record could easily be reversed.

Another busy weekend is upcoming with 4 quality tournament games beginning Friday morning.
