Playdown #1 vs. Oakridge Aeros
The Dunny's Source for Sports Major Atom MD Jr. Warriors battled the ice against the Oakridge Aeros, in their first round of Playdowns. Unfortunately, the boys did not get the outcome they had hope for, their efforts were one game short.  

GAME #1 : Oakridge Aeros had our numbers and attacked the ice hard all game, smothering the Jr. Warriors fire. Scoring the lone goal of the game was, Spencer Murphy, assisted by Liam Ollson and Jordan Keane.

GAME #2: WHO AM I? ... I AM A WARRIOR !!!  Assistant Coach Aaron Chadwick led the boys, in much needed, pre game I AM A Warrior Speech that ignited the Jr. Warrior flames that was uncontrolable! Goaltender Devon Loerzel kept the flames HOT HOT HOT, with many key saves, keeping the boys ahead of the game! The Aeros scored their lone goal late in the first, but was quickly answered when defensemen Ellis Schnurr locked in a blue line shot, that bounced off the goalie pads to Ollson, who made a quick pass to Logan Hallock who buried the first goal. Ryan Wilker and Zach Scrimgeour both had great games, aggressively forechecking and back checking that frustrated the Aeros in attempting to create offensive opportunities. Tyson Cassone, played a large role in protecting his keeper and line mates from the bulls of the Aeros. The L-O-L line was reunited on a Power Play, that led to the Jr. Warriors 2nd goal. A dig from Hallock, quick pass to Owen Chadwick, who fed Ollson that outwitted the Aeros Goalie. Rowan Smith had a good game giving defence support on the boards, keeping Aeros sticks above ice. Defensemen Luke Jackson and Liam Eddleston gave the boys STRONG blue line support, keeping pucks in the offensive end and pinching the boards. Midway threw the third Cassone made a tape to tape pass to line-mate Wilker who secured the Jr. Warriors lead with a remarkable shot. Skating away with a 3-1 Victory!

GAME #3: Bringing us back to home ice, the boys were looking to complete the series at Dufferin Arena, Saturday evening. Hallock netted the first goal, working together behind the net on the power play with Ollson. Aeros answered back scoring two goals shortly after. With Aeros taking the lead, the aggressiveness started to ramp up but defensemen Adam Jeffrey sent a clear message that no Aero was getting threw to his goalie without meeting him first!! Goaltender Lachlan Stanley, had a good second and third period holding the puck and preventing rebounds, despite Aeros charging the net. Owen Chadwick closed the gap with a quick wrist shot in the second, assisted by line mates Hallock and Ollson. Mathew Benner had a good period supporting his line mates playing man high, keeping pucks in the offensive end. Aeros netted their third nearing the end of the period. Defensemen Jordan Keane's grit and determination showed threw playing a solid game, attacking every puck and pinning Aeros to the boards. Ending the second, Cassone blasted a shot top shelf to tie the game at 3's, from a drop back pass by Hallock, who received a clear out pass by Schnurr. Defensemen Sammy Binns held Aeros Snipers from entering the neutral zone and provided the Jr. Warriors with many blue line shots back into the offensive zone. Murphy had a great game with lots of hustle, pressure on the pucks and creating offence. Despite the fall to the Aeros in the series, the boys played a hard and solid game !


UP NEXT: The Major Atom MD team will still participate in the MD ALLIANCE CHAMPIONSHIPS April 13th-15th in London, Ontario.  SCHEDULE TBD within the upcoming weeks.
