Major Peewees Face Off with London - By Erin Heisz
Back to business after the Christmas break, the Stratford Warriors had 2 regular season games in the last week. Both were close scores and Warriors ended up with a loss against Mustangs White and a win against Mustangs Purple to put them into 5th place in the Bristol League.

Scotiabank Stratford Major Peewee Rep Warriors vs GLHA Mustangs White

The Scotiabank Major Peewee Rep Warriors faced off Sunday against the number one team in the league, the GLHA Mustangs White. Kiefer MacNeil was in net for the Warriors. The Mustangs came out firing on all cylinders and scored 30 seconds into the game. The Warriors didn’t let that stand long and Kaden Brame on a give and go with Jared Gould got a top shelf snap shot goal! The tie held until near the end of the period when the Mustangs got another goal.

Down 2-1 in the second period, Owen Holloway and Cole Meadows had good chances on net to try to tie it up again. MacNeil had a nice save to keep us in the game. Sam Jeffrey had a hard shot on net that almost got tipped in. Ethan Pearce and Isaac Nickel were moving the puck along well.

The score was still 2-1 in the 3rd for the Mustangs. Ayden Hakkers shot off the post and Jake Heinbuch had a great chance off a rebound that got robbed by the Mustangs goalie. The Warriors got on a power play but nothing was getting through. A penalty was called on Stratford and the penalty kill line did well. Luke Zorgdrager had some hard shots from the point near the end of third. The Mustangs got an empty netter to make it a 3-1 final.

Scotiabank Stratford Major Peewee Rep Warriors vs GLHA Mustangs Purple

The Scotiabank Stratford Major Peewee Rep Warriors started off their game against London with some fierce offensive pressure. Jake Heinbuch got the puck to Zach Richardson just before skating off the ice. Richardson took the puck up and caught the goalie off guard with his speed, sending the puck in from the circle to give us the lead! Shortly after Warriors got on a power play. Richardson was firing off more shots trying to increase our lead. Heinbuch had a great back check.

The Warriors started the second period up 1-0 and Luke Zorgdrager and Wes Duiker were determined to keep it that way. They sandwiched a Mustang on a rush at the blue line getting the puck back to their team mates. Luke Heisz had a nice shot from the point. Liam Parsons got his first real action of the game and in a series of shots one slipped by to tie it up at 1-1. Kaden Brame was heating up and had a number of shots on net. Parsons was kept busy and was up to the test stopping all shots throughout the period. Warriors got on a power play but then got a penalty making it 4 on 4 for 45 seconds. Ryan Middegaal had a great penalty kill and was moving fast across the ice. Sam Jeffrey iced the puck multiple times to run the clock. Richardson fought hard at the net.

Stratford continued the pressure on the Mustangs throughout the 3rd period. The Warriors penalty kill had to be tough with only 6 minutes left in the game. Parsons had a couple of big saves. Ethan Pearce drew a penalty for a 4 on 4. Coincidental minors got called and a time out was taken. Stratford got a 4 minute power play when 4 Mustangs were all over one of our Warriors. Ayden Hakkers made it count and shot the puck in! Another time out was called and both teams were pumped. The Mustangs goalie was pulled and Parsons had a MONSTER save with 50 seconds left in the game. We won 2-1!
