Scotiabank Major Peewee Jr. Warriors take game 3 in OT - by Erin Heisz
The Stratford Scotiabank Major Peewee Jr. Warriors hosted the London Mustangs Purple for Game 3 on Wednesday night.  The game was a tight checking affair and it took 3 periods and more before this one was done.

The series was tied at 2 points each and the Warriors were keen to keep their season going into March break. Ayden Hakkers had an early scoring chance off a rush. Kiefer MacNeil was in net and looking sharp with some early saves. Jake Heinbuch had a shot on net. Wes Duiker had a point shot off the draw that tipped on net for a good chance. The Warriors got the first penalty of the game and Danny Van Straaten and Ryan Middegaal worked hard on the PK. With only 17 seconds left in our penalty, London got an interference penalty. Owen Holloway used his agility to make a wrap around play on the power play. Near the end of the period, Stratford got another penalty and was again down a man. Zach Richardson rushed the puck down and drew us another penalty.

The Second period started with 4 on 4 hockey for 3 seconds and a scoreless game. A short Warriors power play ensued and the game remained 0-0. A minute later we were on the power play again when the Mustangs got called for roughing. The Mustangs killed the penalty well with no real offence being generated by the Warriors. MacNeil made more saves to keep double eggs on the board despite heavy pressure from the Mustangs forwards.

Fans were tense as they watched this weeknight nail biter! Play was progressively getting more rough as the game went on and the Warriors went on another power play. They really needed to capitalize on this chance to break the deadlock. Kaden Brame wasted no time and shot off the draw but it just went wide. Unfortunately it became 4 on 4 with a man in the box for us. Luke Heisz fired a clapper from the circle off the cross bar and out of play. With only 8 minutes left it was a real goalie contest at this point. Another power play for the Warriors but again no major chances. Holloway had a shot off the side of the net on a 2 on 1. MacNeil made a smooth save with a minute left. Hakkers leaked through for a partial breakaway and Brame had a tip bounce off the crossbar with a few seconds left! Into overtime we go.

It didn’t take long for Warrior Kaden Brame to shoot the puck high and have it tipped in by the Mustangs goalie!! Warriors win 1-0 in overtime and take a 4 points to 2 series lead!!
