Major Peewee Rep wins back to back games to tie up the series!!! - By Erin Heisz
The Major Peewee Rep Warriors were matched up with GLHA Mustangs White for a pair of games this weekend. The Warriors were fierce in both games coming out with a shutout on Saturday and a 3-2 win on Sunday!

Scotiabank Major Peewee Rep Stratford Warriors vs GLHA Mustangs White - Game #3

The Scotiabank Major Peewee Rep Stratford Warriors faced sudden death on Saturday at Argyle arena. The coaches must have given an amazing pre game pep talk because they came out on fire and put huge pressure on the Mustangs. We had lots of shots on net but nothing was getting through the Mustangs goalie. Ethan Pearce was on a breakaway and got his stick knocked away drawing a penalty for the Mustangs. The power play was shut down by the Mustangs. The Mustangs goalie was without a stick for about a minute but we didn’t get a chance to take advantage of it. Zach Richardson got a few hard shots on net that almost snuck in. Warriors got a penalty and Luke Zorgdrager did a great job of icing the puck out. Half of the penalty was spent offensively in the Mustangs end!

Scoreless to start the second, Liam Parsons made a couple quick saves early on. We luckily avoided a too many men on the ice penalty when a shot by Jared Gould looked like it had been smothered but got played by the goalie and approached the line changing kids! Danny Van Straaten had a tough puck battle out front and got it to Pearce who shot from the circle into the back of the net! Richardson got an assist on the play as well. Luke Heisz passed to Kaden Brame who peppered shots on net. Gould was making his patent behind the net passes to the slot where Hakkers and Jake Heinbuch attempted to build up our lead. Two more Warriors penalties were killed by the team. Parsons kept the lead with multiple saves. Pearce was rushing the puck up again and again with Mustangs continually trying to bump up his stick.

The score was still 1-0 and another penalty was called on the Warriors. Parsons stayed sharp and made more saves. Heinbuch was helping out the defence in front of our net and at the blue line. Fans helped the refs out with some loud yelling to help identify an offside. Again the penalty kill had some great offensive chances. Heisz iced it to end the penalty. Zorgdrager and Pearce got the puck on net again. Pearce a minute later had the puck on a breakaway, beautifully deaked the goalie and shot the puck but just a second too late and it went off the goalie’s pad. Mustangs turned it around and put a lot of pressure on us but Parsons was making save after save. Owen Holloway was doing a great job getting the puck out of our end for the whole third period. A time out was called by the Mustangs with 1:38 left in the game. The Mustangs goalie was pulled and Brame battled for the puck and shot it down the ice towards the empty net. It just missed. There was controversy because the time keeper had not started the clock for the play! With 19 seconds left Pearce shot it down into the empty net to make it 2-0! Zorgdrager got an assist on the play. We won the game to play another day!!

Scotiabank Major Peewee Rep Stratford Warriors vs GLHA Mustangs White - Game #4

Fans were hoping for another barn burner at the Allman on Sunday afternoon given the excitement the day before. There was a lot of neutral zone play to start the first period and not many scoring chances for either team. Warriors got on a power play and Cole Meadows got a couple of shots on net. Keifer MacNeil in net had to face a short handed breakaway and stone walled the shot! Coincidental minors got called so it stayed 5 on 4. Ethan Pearce sniped one hard from the circle but the goalie caught it. Ryan Middegaal had a hard point shot off the goalie’s stick.

Ryan Haines was called up as forward in the game and did a nice job keeping the puck in the Mustangs end. Middegaal had a huge hustle on a line change to break up a 2 man Mustangs breakaway. The Mustangs continued to put pressure on us but MacNeil kept it 0-0. Ayden Hakkers and Sam Jeffrey got the puck to Kaden Brame who shot it top shelf short side to give us the lead 1-0! Soon after the Mustangs were on a power play and scored to tie it 1-1. Only a minute later, Zach Richardson sent a pass to Pearce. Pearce had 2 attackers sandwiching him at the blue line, made a foot pass to himself, waited for the goalie to go down and shot it in! What a goal!! Haines and Meadows were keeping up the offence and making shots on net. Jeffrey made a great stop at the blue line. Warriors got another penalty and MacNeil kept it 2-1 with multiple saves.

Middegaal, Meadows and Wes Duiker were tireless on the penalty kill and only 1 shot got fired on net. Another penalty was called and this time Warriors got scored on to make it 2-2. We then went on a power play and yet another short handed breakaway happened on MacNeil. He was ready and denied the Mustangs the lead. Back to even strength, we had Duiker and Hakkers shooting on net. The last power play of the game came with 2:55 left. Danny Van Straaten and Brame got assists on a Hakkers goal to make it 3-2! Another London penalty made it 5 on 5 as the Mustangs goalie was pulled. Brame hit the post on an empty net shot from the centre line! We won 3-2!!
