Jr. Warrior Lose Two of Three over Weekend
The Stratford Canadian Tire Jr. Warriors, playing three
games in four days, had their seven game unbeaten streak snapped in losing two
out of three games this past weekend in Alliance AA/A Major Bantam action.
Stratford traveled to London last Thursday, and despite having an edge in possession play, could not find the back of the net, and were downed 1-0 by the London Jr. Knights (Green). Aaron Waugh was solid in net for the Warriors, beaten once early then closing the door for the remainder of the game. The defensive battle was also a penalty free affair.
The Warriors traveled to St. Thomas Saturday, where a late goal by Patrick Holloway gave Stratford a 3-2 win over the host Jr. Stars. Holloway’s goal, with 4:07 remaining, was assisted by Owen Duiker. Holloway also assisted on the opening goal of the game, scored by Carter Musselman. Caleb Musselman also assisted, while Caelen Trupp also scored for Stratford, this time with Zach Carman assisting. Once again special teams played a big part in the Stratford offence, with 2 of the 3 goals coming on the power play.
Stratford finished off the busy weekend back at home, against the London Jr. Mustangs (White). Down three regulars, Stratford struggled against London and were beaten 2-1. The lone goal scorer for Stratford, with a power play marker, was Carter Musselman, with Caleb Musselman and Maverick Mulder assisting.
The Warriors now have three games remaining to determine if they will be ranked a AA or an A team, with games against the London Jr. Knights (White) Woodstock and Waterloo, all wrapping up by next Sunday afternoon.
