The Dunny’s Source For Sports Major Atom MD Warriors kicked of their season with two wins in the opening weekend of play. In the home opener on October 6, the Warriors met up with the St. Catharines Hurricanes. Stratford’s Owen Van Gestel opened the scoring up, skating end to end with a beautiful shot to rev up the team. Taten Mikel provided two more, one from a pass from Van Gestel and one alone to put the score at a 3-1 win.
Sunday's game welcomed the Burlington Bulldogs White to Stratford. The Warriors coming off of their previous day's win, were pumped up and ready to take them on. In the first period Andre Lefebvre scored twice, assisted by line mates Liam Benton and Alex Robinson. In the second, Mason Bauld added a third goal with a pass from Benton. Van Gestel added the fourth security goal after being set up by a nice pass from Kieran Johnson. A final goal was scored by Robinson from Lefebvre to end the game with a 5-2 final. The Warriors look forward to their next game facing the tough Burlington Red on October 13.
