The ‘07 Minor Peewee Rep team, sponsored by Royal LePage Hiller Realty started their 8 point AA final series on the weekend earning four points against the London Jr. Knights White.
Saturday afternoon the boys travelled to London for game one. It was an intense battle from the first puck drop. Goalie Zack Irvin was tested early between the pipes and stood strong. Late in the first the Warriors struck with a goal from Ryan Gansevles, assisted by Blair Stokes. Never a team to take lightly, the Knights fought back and pulled ahead 2-1 in the second. But again, Gansevles found the back of the net, assisted by Grady Murphy and Carter Petrie. With a scoreless third and the game looking like it was headed to overtime, the Warriors had a different plan with Blake Hodgson firing in a rocket with 0.3 left on the clock earning the 3-2 win.
Game two went Sunday afternoon in Stratford and it was another good one. Stratford opened the scoring with a bullet from Colin Schultz, while netminder Ryan McGill held off the London attack. Moments later Carter Petrie scored on a sweet feed from Ryan McGee and Dawson White to give Stratford a 2-0 lead. C. Schultz netted his second of the game with a power play goal, assisted by Gansevles and Murphy. The second period was all McGill who came up with huge toe saves and a massive diving save across the cage at the 6 minute mark to keep London off the boards. Aaron Green and Zach Schultz held tight on the blue line while the Warriors tried to protect their lead. London cracked the goose egg in the third but Stratford battled back with an empty net goal from Petrie, giving Stratford a 4-1 lead.
