The Stratford Atom Rep Warriors, sponsored by Perth Auto Dismantler, claimed their first season win this weekend versus the Cambridge Hawks, in Cambridge on Saturday, September 21, 2019.
Player number 8, Rowan Green, started the scoring with a stop and pop, from the blue line to get goal number one for Stratford. The game remained 1-1 at the end of the first period.
Cambridge finally responded with a deflection goal during the second period to tie it up. Reid Morris followed with a power play goal assisted by Nate Van Bakel. The score was tied 2-2, at the end of the second.
Griffin Harvey, number 7, lead the third period with a beauty, unassisted goal. He scored a deflection goal that found the back of the net. 10 minutes into the third, Caden Ollson scored, assisted by Kieran Johnson. This was followed by Jake Schultz, securing a goal out of a scramble in front of the net, assisted by Cam Munro. Will Pepper, number 14, rounded out the scoring with some nice stick handling and a shot on net to make the total 6-2 for the Warriors.
At 3:54 Stratford ended the period with a 4 minute power play to end the game with a first season win and away game win!
The boys play again this Wednesday, September 25, against the Waterloo Wolves at RBC home, starting at 7 pm. Let's Go Warriors!
