Smith Gets Shutout Versus Burlington Jr. Cougars!
On Saturday, January 11, 2020, the Stratford Atom Rep Warriors, played the Burlington Junior Cougars, at Stratford Rotary Arena.
The Atom Reps are sponsored by Perth Auto Dismantlers in Stratford.
Quinn Smith was goaltender for Saturday's game. The first period was scoreless until the 3:21 mark. Owen Blackburn made a slick pass to Caden Ollson, who landed it into the net for Stratford's first goal. Jack Bannon and Will Pepper rallied in front of the net to secure shots for their lines. Nate Van Bakel hustled to get the puck from Burlington and Jake Schultz battled to win his faceoffs. With 2 seconds left in the game Ollson, made a quick shot from the hash marks into the back of the net to make the score 2-0.
The second period score ramped up 30 seconds into the period, when Kieran Johnson scored assisted by Ollson and Piers Murray. Rowan Green added to the scoreboard all alone, when he fired a shot from the point at the 7:44 mark. Griffin Harvey and Graedon Smith held firm at the blue line. Shortly after at 7:32, Harvey locked in another goal, assisted by Ollson and Bannon. Ty Jackson and Cam Munro tried to cash in on a few breakaways. Griffin Harvey added his 2 cents with a top corner goal. Ollson sealed the 2nd period lead with a hustle and grab goal, assisted by Evan Hughes.
The eigth goal was scored by Reid Morris assisted by Ty Jackson at 6:53. Stratford landed a few penalties but kept the lead and defensive play going for the entire game. The game finished with a score of 8-0. Smith went home celebrating a shut-out! Way to go Warriors!
The Atom Reps travel to Toronto this weekend, to play in the "Winter Aeros Tournament". They play their first game on Friday at 11:30, at the Scotiabank Pond Arena, North York. Good Luck This Weekend Warriors!
