Stratford Atom Reps Rack Up The Scoreboard Saturday Night!
Stratford Atom Rep Warriors, sponsored by Perth Auto Dismantlers, played St. Thomas on Saturday December 8, at the Rotary Arena.
Stratford burst out in the first period with a goal by Caden Ollson at 5:35, to lead the way.
The second period saw strong pressure on the boards by Piers Murray and Nate Van Bakel digging in the corners. Even though a penalty was called against Stratford, they held firm and kept the score to 1-0, with Carter Keating holding down the net. Evan Hughes scored a slick wrap-around goal at 8:14 to make the score 2-0. Griffin Harvey had a few nice shots on net from the point. Graedon Smith, and Cam Munro had a few breaks down the ice to dump the puck in front of the net, while Tyler Jackson kept control of the puck in the St. Thomas end. Jack Bannon, and Rowan Green held firm against the boards, while Owen Blackburn fired off some hard shots on the St. Thomas Goalie.
During the third period, St. Thomas joined the game scoring at the 11 minute mark. The tie did not last long as Ried Morris, passed to Jake Schultz to try and bank a goal, but ended with scuffling in front of the net. Keiran Johnson and Will Pepper, showed finesse stickhandling and digging for the puck at the St. Thomas net. The puck managed to get out to Harvey, who sniped a slapshot to the top corner, all on his own, for a beauty goal with 8:16 left. Hughes followed close behind to secure a goal at 5:06. Hughes shared the wealth by passing to Murray who added a point. Murray wanted another goal so he added one more with 1:34 left in the game to finish with 6-1. St. Thomas left Stratford with a loss.
