Peewee Rep Warriors Face Stiff Competition at International Silver Stick
The ‘07 Major Peewee Rep team, sponsored by Scotiabank participated in the International Silver Stick over the weekend in Port Huron but came up short.

Thursday night the Warriors played the Valencia Flyers from California.  After the teams exchanged power play goals in the first, the Flyers flew away with a 6-1 win.  The lone goal from Stratford came from Ryan Gansevles, assisted by Griffin McGregor and Carter Petrie.

Game two in pool play the Warriors faced off against the host Port Huron Flags. Solid work on the blue line from Zack Schultz, Rylan Hall, Austin Musselman and Aaron Green as well as between the pipes from Ryan McGee gave the Warrior offense a chance to go to work earning a decisive 10-0 win.  Stratford goals came from Ryan McGee, Carter Petrie,  Gansevles, Grady Murphy, Blake Hodgson, Colin Schultz, Blair Stokes and Griffin McGregor, with helpers coming from Petrie, C.Schultz, Nathan Siebert, Dawson White, McGee, McGregor, Liam Ollson Murphy and Gansevles.

In their final pool play match the Warriors were up against the Upper Ottawa Valley Aces.  The Warriors found themselves in a must win (by a number of goals) to move on in the tournament. Never a team to quit the boys battled hard against the number one team in Ontario.  Ottawa held a 2-0 lead going into the second when the goal judge lit the lamp for Stratford however, the ref didn’t agree despite the insistence from the judge. Both teams fought hard with Stratford getting on the boards with a goal from C. Schultz assisted Grady Murphy. Strong back checking from Hodgson and Green and huge saves from Zack Irvin in net kept Stratford in it.  Mid-way through the third Murphy fired in a feed from Carter Petrie making it 4-2, and later Ganselves fired in pass from Petrie to move Stratford within one. But despite giving it their all, Ottawa grabbed a few empty netters to seal the deal.
