The ‘07 Major Peewee Rep team, sponsored by Scotiabank began their playdown series against London Jr. Knights Green by earning four points in the six point series.
Game one went Saturday afternoon in London. The Warriors came out strong cycling the puck well and limiting the shots on goal in the first. Mid-way through the second Stratford nabbed their first goal with a rocket from Griffin McGregor, assisted by Carter Petrie. London tied the game briefly but Dawson White slipped one in late in the second giving Stratford a 2-1 lead. Strong puck possession from Aaron Green and Rylan Hall, coupled with a hot glove from goalie Zack Irvin held off the Knights. Meanwhile, Stratford’s Colin Schultz managed to nab his first of the game, assisted by McGregor and Petrie for the 3-1 victory.
Looking to capitalize on that winning momentum the Warriors hosted London for game two at the Willy on Sunday. Zack Irvin handled his job in net skillfully, taking away opportunities from the London attack. With less than three minutes left in the first Nathan Siebert tipped in a shot from Blair Stokes, assisted by Grady Murphy giving Stratford a 1-0 lead. The Warriors opened the second period with a goal from Carter Petrie, assisted by Colin Schultz. And moments later Blake Hogson ripped one in on the power play, assisted by Siebert and Dawson White.
