The ‘07 Major Peewee Rep team, sponsored by Scotiabank won their playdown series with a sweep of the London Jr. Knights Green.
Up 4 points in the 6 point series the boys travelled to London on Wednesday night looking for a final win to seal the deal. The Warriors went hard, end to end with tremendous work on the blue line from Aaron Green and Ryan Gansevles as the game remained scoreless after the first period of play. But that changed early in the second period when Griffin McGregor scored on a feed from Carter Petrie giving Stratford a brief 1-0 lead. London fought back making it 1-1 mid-way through the second. Never a team to give up the Warriors continued to battle with Colin Schultz sliding in a brilliant short handed goal, assisted by Zach Schultz. In the third period netminder Zack Irvin was tremendous, holding off the London attack with his hot glove. Ryan McGee sniped in a feed from Grady Murphy, giving Stratford a 3-1 lead, but again London capitalized on a power play putting them within one. Mid-way through the third period Petrie ripped in his own rebound giving Stratford a 4-2 lead. London was able to pick one up late in the game but the Warriors held on for the 4-3 series victory.
