Short Bench at Home
Submitted By Jamie Eddleston on Saturday, February 8, 2020
A short handed All Equip Major Peewee MD squad hosted the visiting St.Catherines Hurricanes last Sunday afternoon in the old Allman barn. Lachlan Stanley was handed the task of backstopping the home team, who were trying to keep their win streak alive after a 4 and 0 start in 2020.

The Warriors controlled the game from the beginning and jumped ahead early with goals from Dylan Abel and Rowan Smith. Smith was relentless on the puck from the opening face off and added his second of the contest late in the frame with the assist going to Ellis Schnurr.
The strong forecheck of Quinn Hyde, Jared Smith and Liam Ollson kept the Hurricanes hemmed in their end for much of the second and the visiting team were fortunate that the Warriors only added one more before the end of the period. That goal was a beauty as Abel went end to end, skating through all five opponents before sliding the puck neatly through the 5 hole of the Hurricane tender.
At the other end, Stanley did a great job staying focused between the pipes and despite his strong play and making some highlight reel saves, the visitors managed to squeak one by him before the period ended. 4-1 Warriors after 2.
The short bench of  the Warriors continued to control most of the play in the 3rd period. After killing off a number of penalties, they extended their lead on the power play when Liam Eddleston took a cross ice pass from Adam Jeffrey, carried the puck in wide, then buried it short side . 5-1 for the good guys. The visitors were able to add one more late on the tired Warriors. Final Score 5-2, streak extended. Next up Waterloo Wolves.
