Defeat Sting & Mustangs on weekend
Written by Maureen Whitehead. The SMHA Jr Warriors Midget team improved their record to 17-0-2 after two wins on the weekend.

On Saturday in Sarnia, the Sting took an early lead but the Warriors answered when a pass up the middle from Jack Whitehead sent Caleb Musselman in alone to tie the game.  Cohen LeSouder had the other assist.  The Sting scored on the power play with less than a second left in the first period and the score remained 2-1 until the 3rd period.  Noah Rusen-Steele tied the game when he put in a rebound off a Tate Gaylor shot on the power play.  On the power play again, with under 5 minutes left in the game, Patrick Holloway went 5-hole and scored the game winner.  Whitehead had the assist.  Kyle Powers was the winning goalie.

At the Allman on Sunday, Jared LeSouder scored a hattrick and Whitehead tallied 5 assists in a penalty-filled affair that the Warriors won by a score of 8-4.  The GLHA Jr Mustangs Purple team took an early lead but Tate Gaylor tied it up on the power play with eight seconds left in the 1st period. Whitehead had the helper.  Less than a minute into the 2nd period, still on the power play, Jared LeSouder scored, assisted by Noah Rusen-Steele and Whitehead.  After London made it 3-2, LeSouder tied it up with his 2nd power play goal of the night, assisted by Ben Wyatt.  London took the lead again but Luke Gaylor and Braydon Tinning scored on back-to-back shifts with 2 minutes left in the 2nd period to make it 5-4.  Chipping in with assists were Carter Musselman, Whitehead, Aiden McMann and Caleb Musselman.  In the 3rd period, Holloway scored his 2nd of the weekend, assisted by Whitehead.  Stretch passes from Riley Mathieson to Caleb Musselman and from Whitehead to LeSouder resulted in 2 more goals, making it an 8-4 final. Carson Knott got the win in net.
