The Stratford Jr Warriors Midget team earned 4 points this
week, to secure a first place finish overall.
On Wednesday night in Stratford, the Warriors defeated the Burlington Jr Cougars. The Cougars were up 1-0 in the first but the Warriors scored 7 unanswered goals for the win. Goal scorers were Carter Musselman with 3, Patrick Holloway, Luke Gaylor, Noah Rusen-Steele, and Ben Wyatt. Chipping in with assists were LeSouder with 3, Rusen-Steele with 2, Wyatt, Holloway, Callan Ferguson, Jack Whitehead, and Caleb Musselman.
On Thursday night in London, the 1st and 2nd place teams faced off and the Warriors came out on top again. After a scoreless first period, Luke Gaylor put the Warriors up 1-0 when he took a pass from Holloway and scored top shelf on the London Jr Knights goalie. Ben Wyatt also assisted on the goal. Call-up Zach McCann made it 2-0, assisted by Caleb Musselman and Gaylor. The Knights cut the lead in half in the 3rd period but Rusen-Steele potted a power play goal to restore the 2-goal lead. Holloway and Jared LeSouder assisted. With their goalie on the bench, and 2 minutes left in the game, London scored again but LeSouder’s empty net goal with 41 seconds left sealed the win for Stratford. Ferguson and Aiden McMann assisted on the final goal.
