The U11 Warriors sponsored by Mc Cutchen & Pearce Professional Corporation had a busy week, clocking in 3 games – 3 W’s - 16 goals for and 6 goals against.

The week began on Tuesday evening vs. the Kitchener Jr Rangers with a 6:45P.M puck drop on the Molson Pad. The team had a good start, forcing the Rangers goalie to step up quickly, making 18 saves in the first period, keeping the score board dim on the home side and allowing the visiting team to strike first with a choppy goal ending the period. The second period Joseph Moss with a little toe drag and push to the net, released a wrist shot that bounced off the goaltenders pads out to winger Gavin Terpstra, who trickled in goal #1 for the Warriors. Feeding off the energy of the first goal, Nate Micks with a center ice turnover, couple crossovers headed to the net, launching a shot, that was batted out to winger Andrew Hodgins, who didn’t skip a beat to hammer in goal #2. Owen Hurley picking the Rangers pocket, flew down the right side shot high stick side, netting goal #3. Mason Bye with a stick lift and steal, zipped down the right side, launching a shot at the net, that Moss batted out of the air to net goal #4 ending the period. Third period, the boys made a hesitant play that gave the visiting team a breakaway, allowing them to score goal #2 and with a cluster of players in front of the net and the boys unable to clear the puck, the Rangers netted a third goal midway through the period. With the game coming to an end, Hurley found a pathway, sending him on a breakaway hitting his target, with a shot top right corner ending the game with a 5-3 W.

Saturday evening, the boys travelled down the highway to face the Hamilton Huskies. The boys were ready to play, winning majority of puck battles and face offs. Hurley with the jets on, made a couple end to end rushes, netting the first 2 goals for the Warriors. Winger Lincoln Rae and defencemen Malcolm Austin- Olsen both had a good period with multiple stick lifts, creating opportunity for the Warriors to steal the puck. Linemates Tyler Peck, Nate Micks and Hodgins had a strong battle in front of the net vs the defence and goaltender with Peck skating away with a point, trickling in goal #3. There was a shaky 6min where the boys were hemmed in their end, with a battle of clearing the puck up the boards between both teams. Hurley zig zagging through the team, took a shot, bouncing off the goaltenders’ glove to winger Joey Bitzer tipping in goal #4. Defencemen Miles Marshall with a blast from the point netted goal #5 ending the period. With a few penalties being called at the beginning of the third, Hamilton was able to net their lone goal on a 4v4. Shortly after, Bitzer taking a shot from the right side that bounced off a pad out to Hurley coming down the center, shooting in goal #6. The game ended with the battle of the goaltenders, with both teams making a hard push end to end. Warriors tender Nash Zacher had a good game, covering his area in blue, keeping his legs fanned out post to post, not allowing any wrap arounds or garbage to float in.

Sunday afternoon, at the William Allman Arena vs Woodstock Navy Vets the boys skated away with a 5-2 victory. Hurley netted the first goal, with a rush down the center, shooting top shelf. Terpstra netted the second goal with a shot in front of the net. The second period, Hurley did a little dance with the puck, up the ice shooting top right corner for the third goal. Defencemen Brayden Keating had a solid weekend blocking numerous shots with his back, legs and stomach. Goaltender Sawyer Verspeeten was put to the test making 5 saves back-to-back holding off the Woodstock offence, until a few penalties were called, and the blue were able to steal their first goal on a 4v4. Beginning the third, Moss took a shot from the wing, that bounced back out to Hurley coming on the ice, shooting in goal #4. Marshall netted goal #5 with a shot from the top of the circle. With a couple mis calculated passes by the Warriors, Woodstock was on a breakaway netting the final goal of the game.
