It's a great time for H O C K E Y
“A team isn’t a bunch of kids out to win.
A team is something you belong to,
something you feel,
something you have to earn.”

    -  Gordon Bombay

Saturday evening the U11 Warriors sponsored by Mc Cutchen & Pearce Professional Corporation battle a tight game against the St. Thomas Jr. Stars. The boys had many rushes, shots, scrambles infront of the net but were held back by the Stars goaltender. Andrew Hodgins scored the lone Warrior goal of the game in the first period with a sniper shot from the hash marks. St. Thomas tied it up with 5 minutes left in the game. Goaltender Nash Zacher had a good three periods, keeping his territory covered from post to post. Despite the mad push at the end from both teams, the game ended with a 1-1 tie.

On a lovely sunny Sunday fall day, the U11’s travelled down highway 7 to stare across from the Waterloo Wolves. The team started the game off with a couple rushes and good board battles to get the energy flowing. Goaltender Sawyer Verspeeten clenched an Apple, making a pass to Lincoln Rae who tipped the puck up to Owen Hurley, making a dash down the ice, netting goal #1. Midway through the period, Hurley grabbed a loose puck, caught Waterloo on a tough line change giving him a clear pathway to 1v1, making no mistake, he neatly tucked in goal #2. The second period Waterloo’s goaltender faced over a dozen shots but held the board at 2-0. It was a fast-paced period, Warriors defence running one man shy, made up of Nash Rhiel, Miles Marshall, Jaxon Hallock, Brayden Keating and Marcus Atkinson, had a good game pinching in, making shots from the point, controlling direction of the shooter, holding the boards, clearing garbage and making quick line changes to keep the legs fresh on the back end. The third period started with Hurley shooting top corner to net goal #3. Nearing the end of the game, Hurley did a 200’ sprint, shooting low stick side to net the final goal for the Warriors. Waterloo slid in their lone goal ending the game with a 4-1 victory for the red, white and blue.
