Minor Bantam A Warriors Finish Second in Bristol A League
The Cherrey Bus Lines Stratford Warriors Minor Bantam A team closed the season with two wins and a tie to finish second in the Bristol A League. On Saturday, the team defeated league leading Cambridge 1 - 0. The game was scoreless until late in the third when, with 42 seconds remaining, Greg Hansford found the net on a feed from Maverick Petrie and Liam Kelly. Tyler Johnson earned the shutout.
On Super Bowl Sunday evening, the team travelled to Burlington, where they defeated the rival Bulldogs 4 - 1. Evan Metelski started the scoring in the first, assisted by Brandon Taylor and Hansford. Jared Prekup scored in the second, assisted by Nic Strangway and Metelski got his second on a pass from Kelly. Petrie got an unassisted goal in the third. Wyatt Taylor played well in net, relinquishing one goal in the third.In their final season game at home, the team tied the Kitchener Rangers 3 - 3. It was tied with two apiece after the first, on goals by Taylor and Hansford. The Rangers went up in the second and it wasn't until two minutes to go in the third that Taylor again found the net on the power play to tie the game. Metelski assisted on each goal and Hansford added two.
