Warriors Win First Game of Championship Series
The Cherrey Bus Lines Minor Bantam A Warriors won the opener of the Bristol A Championship Series Thursday night in an exciting fashion. After falling behind 4 - 1 early in the second period, the team went on to defeat Cambridge 6 - 5. Cambridge found the net first but the power play responded with the first of what would be four power play goals. Liam Kelly got the goal on a pass from Josh Hill. Cambridge potted another one before the end of the period. Early in the second, Cambridge added two more to make it 4 - 1.
Quickly after a timeout to settle the team down, Maverick Petrie scored from Randy Wouters and ended the second at 4 - 2. The third saw the Warriors get two goals to tie it, both power play goals by Josh Hill, with Brandon Taylor picking up an assist. Two minutes later, Petrie got a short handed goal, assisted by Evan Metelski, to give the Warriors a lead. Cambridge brought the game to a tie again and with two minutes remaining in the game, Greg Hansford scored on the power play, assisted by Kelly. The contest continues with game 2 on Sunday at 3:30 at Allman.
