Atoms Downed by the Jr. Knights Gold
Sunday evening the Perth Auto Dismantlers Major atoms faced the London Jr. Knights gold at Allman arena where the visitors took the early lead scoring four goals in the first period.
After the shaky start, the Warriors responded in the second period when Mason Petrie took a feed from Tyler Pogson and beat a defenceman to set up a two on one. He then fed a streaking Adam Monteith in front who bulged the twine to get the Warriors on the scoreboard. Mitch LaFay then drew the score within two early in the third when he picked up a feed from Adam Windsor and fired a wrist shot over butterfly style Jr. Knights goalie.
London increased the lead to three again before Aly McLeod helped the Warriors respond slipping a quick shot through the five hole assisted by LaFay and Petrie. An empty net goal with .01 seconds left rounded out the 6-3 loss. Overall the Warriors showed good character battling hard to get back into the game in the final two periods in front of a determined Ryan Bell in goal who, like his teammates, refused to roll over and quit.
