Perth Auto Atoms Split the Weekend
The Stratford Atom Reps began their home and home round robin series with Waterloo and Cambridge this past weekend.

The Warriors visited Waterloo on Saturday where they lost the opener 4-2 to the Wolves. Stratford got on the board first on a nice back hander by Adam Monteith with assists going to linemates Mitchell LaFay and Jared LeSouder. The Warriors got into some penalty trouble in the second, which resulted in two Waterloo powerplay goals to take the lead. Stratford would answer back with a power play marker of their own in the third as Callan Ferguson sent a wrister by the netminder, assisted by LaFay. The Wolves went on to capitalize on a couple of defensive miscues by the Warriors, resulting in the loss. Even the royal blue super-fan in attendance couldn’t rally the Warriors on this day! Noah Rusen-Steele and Ben Wyatt had a good game up front while Alex Cassone and Tyler Pogson stood tall on defence.
On Sunday, Stratford played host to the Cambridge Hawks. The Warriors came out on top of a high scoring 8-4 contest that was anything but pretty. Cambridge got things started in the first on a bad line change by the Warriors. A favour they would return later in the match. Stratford finally got their blades under them and got one back late in the first as Monteith scored his first of two on the day, assisted by LaFay and LeSouder. The teams would exchange goals in the second with Kaden Eybergen bulging the twine for the Warriors, assisted by Ferguson. Nine goals in total were scored in the third period leaving fans baffled as to who would outlast the other. Eventually, Stratford pulled ahead for good with goals from Rusen-Steele (2), Mason Petrie, LaFay, and Ferguson. Assists were picked up by Aly McLeod (2), Bryce Lee, Petrie and LeSouder. Riley Mathieson had a strong defensive effort while Aly McLeod and Adam Windsor showed great intensity on forward.
After this weekend’s games, Stratford needs two big wins during the teams' next meetings to have any chance at advancing.
