Stratford’s SCI Contractors Minor Bantam MD’s travelled to Detroit this past week-end to compete in the Motown Cup Series. The Warriors came away with a 3-3 tie in the first game against the Michigan Warriors with goals from Carson Dunseith, Chris Phillips and Connor Franke. Assists went to Chase Windsor, Cole McKay, Phillips and Dunseith. The second game against the Southgate Senators was a hard hitting game and the Warriors just missed coming away with another tie (4-3 loss). The refereeing official had a change of heart about calling a penalty and the Senators scored on an empty net when the goalie was pulled in anticipation of the call. Stratford’s 3 goals were scored by Carson Dunseith, Jacob Ney and Owen Brooks. Assists went to Chris Phillips, Peter Williams, Nathan Ferguson and Garrett Wells. Sunday’s game against the Orchard LK United was played at Joe Louis arena but the Warriors came up short and lost 4-2. Owen Brooks and Nathan Ferguson scored Stratford’s two goals. Assists went to Peter Williams(2), Ferguson and Brooks. Jeremy Wickenheiser and Megan Jesse were both outstanding in net all week-end.
