Strong Efffort on Weekend

Written by Dave Graff.  The SMHA Perth Auto Dismantler Major Atom Rep team split a pair of games on the weekend in Alliance Minor Hockey action.

Sunday in London, the Warriors put forth a strong effort against a solid London Jr Knight team before falling 6-3. The Warriors led 1-0 after one period on a goal by Zach Freeland off of an excellent feed from Zach Carman. The home side came on strong in period two and despite some solid saves from goaltender Nolan Traynor, the Warriors fell behind 3-1 after two periods.  Colten Cowen scored shorthanded on an excellent individual effort midway through period three to cut the London lead to 3-2 but three quick goals by the home side put the game out of reach for the visitors. Owen Duiker added a late goal for the Warriors with Carman and Freeland drawing assists.

On Saturday at the Allman arena the Warriors came storming out of the gates in an eventual 4-1 win over the London Bandits. The home side scored early and often as Caleb Musselman, Carman and Erik Smith tallied to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead after one period. Brody Jeffrey added a second period goal before the Warriors settled in defensively, not allowing the Bandits any chance of a comeback.  Cowen had two assists for the winners while Braydon Tinning, Freeland, Duiker, Jeffrey and Spencer Eidt had one a piece.
