Scotia Bank Major PeeWees Sept.27 & 29 2013
A solid effort on the weekend resulted in the Stratford Scotiabank Peewee Warriors taking three of a possible four points in two away games against strong opposition.

On Friday night the team travelled to Kitchener and posted a convincing 5-1 victory over the Rangers. Calvin McCorkindale opened the scoring in the second with assists going to Austin Taylor and Charlie Rankin. The Warriors exploded in the third with four goals, including three on the powerplay. Carter Lewis finished a nice pass from Hayden Arms  to make it 2-0 with Rankin getting his second helper of the game. David Shantz, on a beautiful individual effort,  tallied midway through the period to put the Warriors up by two. Shantz added his second of the game on the powerplay assisted by Trent Zorgdrager. Lewis finished off the scoring with his second late in the period. Rankin picked up his third point of the night. Zach Dow and Jared Searles played well up front with Brenden Moorehead having a strong game at both ends of the ice. Spencer Lazarevich turned aside 16 of 17 shots he faced.

Another strong game on Sunday resulted in a well earned 1-1 tie against the always dangerous London Jr Knights. After a scoreless first period, Dylan Hall notched his third goal of the year on the powerplay. Austin Taylor and Calvin MCorkindale drew assists. The short staffed defense of Trent Zorgdrager, Brett Maguire, Kobe Robinson and Charlie Rankin did a great job containing London in the defensive zone. It was a solid team effort at both ends of the ice, frustrating the Knights with sustained pressure in all zones. Spencer Lazarevich carried his strong play in goal on Friday night into Sunday and had a great game, making keys save in the third period to preserve the tie.

Next up is a home game on Saturday against the Woodstock Navy Vets.
