Novice Tier 1's Bring Home The Silver!
The Hishon Custom Novice Tier 1 Warriors had an outstanding showing at the MD Championship in St. Catharine's this weekend!

Game one saw the Warriors take on the London Bandits and despite a solid team effort the boys came up short.  Grady Murphy netted the first goal of the game, assisted by Lukas Steele and Blair Stokes.  Mid-way through the third Colin Slattery grabbed a second goal for Stratford, assisted by Dawson White.  Rylan Hall and Blake Hodgson were solid on defense and Brenden Sippel made some key saves for the Warriors but the Bandits came out on top with a 7-2 finish.

In game two the Warriors took on the Kitchener Rangers Red in a hard fought and critical game.  Aidan Hill fought off a relentless Kitchener attack with key glove saves throughout the game.  In the second period Nathan Siebert struck first for the Warriors, assisted by Colin Schultz.  With the Warriors power play hard at work Slattery netted another, assisted by Colin Schultz to give Stratford a 2-0 lead.  Kitchener fought back to tie the game early in the first.  Once again, Slattery fired one past the Kitchener netminder to give the Warriors a 3-2 lead.  With less then 5 mins left in the game, Siebert battled in front of the net to score his second of the game, assisted by Cody Bach.  The Warriors came out on top with a 4-2 win.

Game three saw the Warriors take on the Hamilton Huskies.  Brenden Sippel got the call in net, and provided some key saves from start to finish.  Ryan Gansevles pushed hard on the forecheck to create scoring opportunities for Stratford.  The Warriors got on the board late in the third with a goal from Slattery, assisted by Carter Petrie and Aaron Green.  White picked up the tying goal early in the third, assisted by Slattery and Austin Musselman.  Hamilton grabbed two of their own to take a 4-2 lead, but White scored off a beauty pass from Steele to make it 4-3.  Hamilton pulled away to finish the game 6-3.

The semi-finals saw the Warriors take on the Hamilton Huskies for a second time on Saturday and it was an exciting game down to the last minute!  Stratford goaltender Aidan Hill was phenomenal throughout the game, constantly stone walling the Huskie snipers.  The first period saw each team in the box three times in which neither team could capitalized.  Slattery finally put the Warriors on the board to end the first, assisted by Schultz and Petrie.  Hamiton tied the game in the second and the game remained that way until the final minutes of the game when Slattery scored for the Warriors, assisted by Petrie and Schultz.  Petrie then grabbed an empty netter to give the Warriors a 3-1 victory!

In the gold medal game the Warriors took on the London Bandits for the fourth time in 2 weeks.  Aidan Hill was solid once again between the pipes and the Warrior defense fought hard all game against the London sniper.  Cody Bach put the Warriors on the board first with a rocket from the blue line, assisted by Musselman and Stokes.  In the second period Slattery went five-hole, assisted by Petrie to put the Warriors within 2.  Grady Murphy took a beauty feed from Stokes and Hodgson all the way up the ice to make it 5-3.  Late in the third Aaron Green fired one past the Bandit netminder, assisted by Bach and Schultz, but the Bandits won 8-4.

The Tier 1 Warriors should be congratulated for an outstanding season!  Many team goals were achieved together this year by a solid group of young men! The boys were lead by Head Coach Scott Petrie, assistant coaches Tim Schultz and Chris Musselman, Trainer Tony Convay and Team Manager Scott Siebert.
