Young Warriors Fall Short In Overtime In Semi-Finals
The Rheo Thompson Warriors played a 3 game series vs the North London Nationals in the Semi-Finals of the Tier 3 West Division, winning the 1st game at home and losing the next game in London and falling short in overtime in the deciding game.

Game 1 of the series had the Warriors play at home and win the game in convincing fashion. The boys jumped out to an early lead in the 1st and didn't look back from there. Scoring for the Warriors were Hudsyn Chaput with (4), and Maddyx Chaput with (1). Assists on the day were led by Maddyx Chaput with (3), Jake Schultz with a pair and Hudsyn Chaput with (1). The final score of game 1 was for the Warriors 5-1. Carter Keating was stellar in the net for the Warriors keeping the momentum on their side.

Game 2 was in London, where the boys would run into a very determined Nationals squad. They fell behind early 3-0, but managed to tighten the score back to 3-2 by the end of the frame on goals by Jake Schultz and Maddyx Chaput, assists belonged to Hudsyn Chaput on the 1st goal and Jake Schultz and Maddyx Chaput on the 2nd goal. There was no scoring in the 2nd frame. The Nationals would add to their lead early in the 3rd, but once again Jake Schultz would pull the boys back to within a goal. The boys would enter a late effort to tie the game but with a bad break the Nationals would pull ahead 5-3 and add an empty netter to top off the game 6-3.

The stage was set for game 3 at home for Stratford. Both teams were hungry for the win to advance to the playdown finals. The Nationals would open the scoring early, but midway through the 1st period Maddyx Chaput would get the Stratford fans cheering as they would tie the game. Shortly after Evan Hughes was on the doorstep to bang in the Warriors 2nd goal, capitalizing on a feed from Hudsyn Chaput. The excitement would pick up for Stratford when Maddyx Chaput would pull the boys ahead 3-1 early in the 2nd frame on a pass from Owen Blackburn, until the Nationals would answer with a goal of their own 0:30 later and manage to tie the game with 0:18 remaining in the 2nd period. The 3rd period would be reset for a new game. Hudsyn Chaput would pull the boys back into the lead with a powerplay goal at the 12:18 mark of the 3rd period, until the Nationals would again pull even 4:00 minutes later. The buzzer would go at the end of the 3rd period with the game tied 4-4 forcing sudden death overtime. Both teams would head to their dressing rooms while a flood took place, but early in the overtime period the Nationals kept coming as they did all game and would find the winner 5-4.

The boys showed great heart, spirit and teamwork as they would battle hard all game, unfortunately the London squad also came ready to battle and sometimes we win and sometimes we don't. The coaching staff is extremely proud of this group of 7yr old young players and are looking forward to much more hockey in the future. The Tier 3 Novice Warriors coaching staff and players would like to thank all of the extra fans that came to support them as they would challenge themselves in their most exciting game yet. Also thank-you to our sponsor Rheo Thompson and our organization SMHA, and to all the teams the gave us great competition this year. We wish them all luck as they continue on. Until next year!!!
