Silver at SilverStick for Minor Atom Rep Warriors!
The Holloway Automotive Minor Atom Rep Warriors put on an impressive show this week at the 44th Annual Stratford SilverStick tournament!

Game one of the Stratford SilverStick saw the Warriors take on the Streetville Tigers.  In a hard-fought match netminder Brenden Sippel was outstanding between the pipes, continually denying their snipers.  With the first and second periods going scoreless Stratford finally found the back of the net on a breakaway from Colin Slattery.  Strong work in the neutral zone from Blake Hodgson, Cody Bach, Ryan Ganselves and Rylan Hall helped keep the Tigers off the board and allow Stratford the 1-0 win.

In the second round of pool play action Stratford took on the Garden City Falcons. It was an action packed game that saw the Warriors finish with a 8-2 win.  Stratford opened the scoring in the first period with a goal from Nathan Siebert, assisted by Carter Petrie and Slattery.    The Falcons answered back right away tying the game 1-1.  Netminder Aidan Hill came up with a huge pad save to hold off Garden City, while Lukas Steele gave Stratford the go ahead goal at the 4 min mark, assisted by Austin Musselman and Siebert.  Slattery added another unassisted, and Musselman fired a rocket from the point, assisted by Slattery and Petrie to close out the first period 4-1.   Petrie deked in for the 5th goal for Stratford and lone goal in the second period.  In the third period Steele scored his second of the game, assisted by Rylan Hall, while Slattery netted his second assisted by Petrie.  Outstanding work in net from Hill, and a final goal on the power play from Petrie, assisted by Slattery and Schultz gave Stratford the decisive 8-2 win.

In semi-final action the Warriors were up against the London Jr Knights Green.  With these two teams seeing each other a lot in regular season both were looking for the bragging rights.  Brenden Sippel got the call in between the pipes and proved to be a force over and over again.  The Warriors  offence got going with a nice tip in from Stokes, assisted by Slattery and Petrie.  In the second period Stratford doubled their lead with goal from Petrie, assisted by Grady Murphy.  Closing out the second, Slattery netted one assisted by Schultz and Dawson White.  Schultz dug in deep behind the net late in the third to protect the 3-0 lead and Sippel fought hard to maintain the shut out!

In the final showdown of the tournament Stratford took on the Orangeville Flyers for gold. It was a hard fought match with two strong teams going end to end for three periods of play.  Orangeville struck first sliding one past goalie Brenden Sippel early in the first.  In the second period the Flyers nabbed their second but Slattery cut their lead in half, unassisted.  With the gold medal on the line the Warriors were pushing to tie up the game but Orangeville had other plans as they grabbed their third to make it 3-1.  Never a team to give up the Warriors fought hard and stole one late in the third scored by Stokes, assisted by Slattery and Petrie making it 3-2.  Unfortunately,  the clock ran out before the Warriors could grab another goal.  However,  outstanding tournament and season play along with a second place provincial ranking has landed the team a spot in the upcoming International SilverStick Tournament in Newmarket.
