The Holloway Automotive Minor Atom Rep Warriors finished off their holiday season with a win against the Burlington Bulldogs.
In the first period of play, end to end action saw both netminders being tested. Aidan Hill was strong in net coming up with key glove saves and stopping two breakaways early in the game. It wasn’t until the 14:00 min mark in the second period that Stratford finally got on the board with a goal from Lukas Steele, assisted by Colin Schultz and Aaron Green. Once again, early in the third period Grady Murphy netted one top shelf, assisted by Blair Stokes and Colin Slattery. Slattery closed out the game with one of his own, assisted by Schultz and Murphy. Strong defensive play from Austin Musselman and Blake Hodgson helped Aidan Hill skate away with the shut out.
Of special note, prior to the start of the Saturday afternoon matineet he Minor Atom Warriors were awarded the Marilyn Pickering Award for most sportsmanlike team at the Stratford SilverStick tournament held in December. The award is given to the team that demonstrates a positive team spirit both on the ice and off the ice. Congratulations boys!
