Written by Dave Graff. The SMHA Cherry Bus Lines Minor Bantam rep team continued
their strong play over the last few days tallying two more road wins in minor
hockey Alliance league play.
Sunday in Woodstock the Warriors found another gear late in the second period and parlayed that into a five goal third period in a 5-2 win over the Navy Vets. The line of Ben ten Hag, Brady Ballantyne and Patrick Holloway contributed to four of the five goals, combining for eight scoring points with Ballantyne scoring twice and ten Hag once. Sandwiched in between those four goals was a fabulous top shelf goal by Erik Smith on a great setup from Caleb Musselman. Zach Carman also assisted on the eventual game winner. Maverick Mulder scored the first Warrior goal early in the third. Tallyn Soper made 10 stops in the visitor goal for the victory.
Monday in Brantford the big line combined for a 10 point night in a 4-3 win over the host 99ers. ten Hag and Ballantyne each scored twice while Holloway again added three helpers. Owen Fraser also had an assist. After building a 4-1 third period lead the Warriors had to buckle up and hold on after the hosts found another gear late in the third. Despite allowing two late goals some key shot blocks by Connor Loerzel and Nathan Graff and some key defensive zone clears by Jack Whitehead helped Nolan Traynor secure the win in the visitor goal, stopping 22 Brantford shots.
