Written by Dave Graff. The SMHA Cherrey Bus Lines Minor Bantam rep team was
involved in two shutout games over the weekend winning one and losing one in
Alliance minor hockey action.
Sunday in Stratford despite a high compete level by the home team and a shot clock advantage of 25-14 the Warriors came out on the short end of a 3-0 decision to the London AA Knights. Zach Carman turned several strong offensive zone fore checks into great scoring chances for he and line mates Caleb and Carter Musselman only to be turned aside each time by solid London goaltending. Despite the loss Stratford stayed above the 500 level at 5-4 just past the halfway mark of the seeded portion of the schedule.
Saturday in Burlington the Warriors scored a convincing 8-0 victory over an overmatched Bulldogs White team out shooting the home side 49-8. Carman and Ben ten Hag each tallied twice for Stratford while Curtis Taylor, Calaen Trupp, Braydon Tinning and Patrick Holloway added one each. Connor Loerzel, Brady Ballantyne, Caleb Musselman, Erik Smith, Owen Fraser and Jack Whitehead all chipped in with assists. Tallyn Soper made a handful of solid stops to record the shutout in the Warrior goal.
