Minor PeeWee MD Warrior Weekend Tournament Wrap-Up

The Stratford Warriors All Equip Repairs Minor Peewee MD team had their first taste of Tournament action this past weekend as they took part in the Warriors Early Bird Tournament hosted by Stratford Minor Hockey.

Although they did not win a game , many positive things came out of the tournament.  With 7 new players from last year it will take some time but the coaching staff have already seen improvement from 1 game to the next.

Stratford opened the tournament Friday morning at the Allman taking on the Orangeville Flyers.  The game was tied 0-0 after the first period.  The Warriors played hard at both ends of the ice, Hutton Patterson was fantastic in net.  Orangeville took the lead in the second period with a late period goal.  Down 1-0 Stratford tied the game early in the 3rd period with a goal by Jackson Grasby assisted by Nate Framst.  With 7 minutes remaining Stratford was dealt a 5 minute major penalty.  The strong penalty kill by Sam Pepper, Jack Buckley, Jackson Campbell and the rest of the team were unable to hold of the Flyers as they netted 2 power play goals and won the game 3-1

Stratford played the London Bandits  next falling 10-1.  Scoring for Stratford was Nate Framst with a nice assist from Brayden Gerber.  LauchlanMacArthur , Austin Cosstick and Hunter Currie played a strong forecheck this game while Framst, Noah Rankin and Tyson Malcho played well in their own end.

Stratford opened Saturday play versus a very strong Kitchener Rangers team.  Although they lost 9-1 the Score does not dictate how well they played.  The line of Cole Humphrey, Quinn Elder and Brayden Gerber had several scoring chances.  Jack Buckley, Tyson Malcho were strong at the point.  Nate Framst scored a beautiful power play goal unassisted.

Stratford finished round robin play Saturday night at the Allman taking on a very big Waterloo team.  Stratford fell 8-0  but played hard the entire game just unable to put one by the Waterloo goaltender.  The score  could have been higher if not for the play of Nick Laverty in net with the save of the tournament showing off his glove hand by snagging a hard shot heading to the top corner.  The line of Jackson Grasby, Sam Pepper and Justin Hodgson had several scoring chances taken away from Waterloo’s goalie.  Noah Rankin played well on the forecheck moving up from defense to fill in for Ethan Plotnik who was sick

Stratford opens their regular season this Saturday Oct. 7 where they travel to London to face the Bandits
