Warriors Weekend Update - by Brett Buckley
The Stratford All Equip Repair Minor Peewee MD Warriors got there first win of the season here at the Allman Arena on Sunday defeating the Burlington Bulldogs 4-3.

Stratford trailed 1-0 in the first period after the visitors scored a powerplay goal halfway through the period.  The Warriors responded early in the 2nd after Hunter Currie netted his first warrior goal on a beautiful unselfish pass by Ethan Plotnik .

A strong forecheck by forwards Austin Cosstick, Lachlan MacArthur and Justin Hodgson kept the pressure on Burlington in their own end.  The Warriors took the lead 2-1 when Jackson Grasby scored.  Tyson Malcho picked up the helper.

Still in the second period Stratford would go up 3-1 on a nice shorthanded goal by Sam Pepper, Jack Buckley added the assist on Pepper’s goal.

Defensively the warriors played one of their best games of the season collectively.  Noah Rankin played well holding the blueline in the visitors own end , while Nate Framst moved the puck well out of Stratford’s  own zone to keep pressure off of Goaltender Hutton Patterson, who made some key tough saves to keep the Warriors ahead.

Burlington would score early in the third period to pull within 1 but Cole Humphrey would net the game winner , going top shelf with a wrist shot.  Jackson Campbell picked up the assist.

Burlington made the game interesting netting their 3rd goal of the game to pull within 1 goal again, but the hard work and hustle by the entire team kept Burlington off the scoreboard for the remainder of the game and the young Warriors were able to pull off their first win of the season.

Stratford looks to keep the momentum going Tuesday night where they will host the Waterloo Wolves at the Rotary Complex on the Molson pad.  Puck drop scheduled for 6:45pm.
