This weekend the Minor Pewee MD All Equip Repair & Service Jr. Warriors played in the Ayr Regional Silverstick Tournament.

Game #1 : vs. Tilsonburg Tornadoes

The game was on its way, the Jr. Warriors took charge with Dylan Abel and Rowan Smith banging in the first two goals of the game in the first. Followed up by two more in the second period by Spencer Murphy and Abel. Completing the hat tick in the third was Abel to end the game 5-0. (Assists for this game unknown) The glue to the victory was goaltender Lachlan Stanley who was HOT HOT HOT !! Stanley was a force to be reckon with this game, stone walling the Tornadoes at every opportunity, earning his first shut out of the season!!

Game #2 : vs. Cayuga Stars

The boys started Friday mornings game off quick off the draw, with Murphy tipping the puck up to Smith who scored 13 seconds in. Cayuga was able to respond with two quick goals of their own on two back-to-back penalty kills midway threw the period. Defencemen Sammy Binns cleared a puck to Murphy who made a quick chip up the boards to Abel who danced around the Stars defence to nail a shot top corner to end the period at 2's. Starting the second Logan Hallock fed Liam Ollson up the boards who fired a shot that line-mate Lukas Steele picked off and tipped in over the goalies shoulder. Cayuga was able to snag another one of their own to tie the game at 3's, but not for long. Smith charged the net to feed Jordan Keane who netted the 4th ending the period. Jr. Warriors were on a power play in the third when defensemen Binns lined up a shot from the blue line and Hallock picked up the rebound to tuck in the 5th goal. Minutes later, Keane fed defensemen Ellis Schnurr who sent a rocket to the net to seal the W for the Jr. Warriors.

Game #3 : vs. Ilderton Jets

Coming off a solid win from the morning the Jr. Warriors hit the ice hungry for another W. On the power play Steele lit the board up for the Jr. Warriors, blasting a shot past the goaltender, assists going to Abel and Wagner. Ilderton tied the game up shortly after. The boys battled on throughout the second, moving from end to end quickly, both teams fighting for a W to move to the semi-finals. Ilderton took the lead in the third for a quick 20 seconds, until Murphy gave the Jr. Warriors some light when he tucked in a goal, assisted by Wagner. With the game tied at 2's all players were full tilt battling and all spectators watching nervously as the puck flew from blue line to blue line. With 1:27 left, defencemen Eddleston dug a puck out on the boards and sent Hallock on a breakaway, to score the winning goal.

Semi-Finals : vs. Durham Crusaders

The Jr. Warriors showed up to the rink Saturday evening for the Semi-Finals where they looked across the ice to the Crusaders who were eager to take the W. The game was off and both teams had to battle hard, earning every inch of ice. Abel scored the first goal of the game with a beautiful shot top corner, assisted by line-mate Zach Scrimgeour, ending the first. Followed by the Crusaders scoring early in the second. Both teams went at every puck and goalies faced numerous shots throughout the second & third, but no goals, sending the game into 3 v 3 overtime. The first shift change Eddleston saw a clear path to Owen Chadwick who carried the puck up the ice and at the last second fed Abel that made a quick release shot to hit the back of the net, giving the Jr. Warriors the much deserved victory. Brendan Sipple stood between the pipes and had a great game, limiting rebounds and being aggressive, challenging the Crusaders.

Finals : vs. Dorchester Dragons

On to the finals, Sunday afternoon the Jr. Warriors faced off against the Dorchester Dragons who are 18-0-2 in regular season and who were dominating teams on the scoreboard in the tournament with 34 goals for and only 4 against. The Jr. Warriors came out a little slow but picked up the pace quickly in the first and matched the Dragons for the remainder of the game. Line-mates Ollson, Steele and Hallock worked together executing solid passes to score the lone goal for the Warriors in the first, giving the Dragons an eye opener as to who they were up against. The Dragons did respond with a 4 v 4 goal in the second and again later ending the third. With the goalie pulled with 2min left in the game and Jr. Warriors on a power play, the boys attacked the net firing shot from all angles but were stopped at the gates by the Dragons goaltender, falling to Dorchester 2-1. Goaltender Stanley had another great game holding the Dragons to only two goals! The Jr. Warriors gave the Dragons a challenging game and left an impression on the team, that they will remember the game they played the Minor Pewee MD Jr. Warriors !!
