The Minor Pewee All Equip Repair & Service Jr. Warriors open the 2019 year with a 2 point weekend !
Starting the New Year off with a 6:45P.M puck drop against the Brantford 99ers Saturday evening, the boys were off to a decent start. Jr. Warriors battled pucks back and forth but came up short in the first period with Brantford netting the first goal of the game. The second period resumed with back and forth action, but the Jr. Warriors couldn't sneak one past the 99ers goaltender until the beginning of the third, when defensemen Ellis Schnurr lined up a shot to tie the game up. The boys battled on! With six minutes left in the game Brantford snuck in another goal to take the lead. With the clock running down, the pressure was on, the Jr. Warriors pulled the goalie but weren't able to capitalize. 99ers scored with 19 seconds left to take the W.
Coming off a frustrating loss! The Jr. Warriors were ready to take the ice against one of the top teams Waterloo Wolves White, Sunday afternoon. Spencer Murphy opened up the scoring early in the first assisted by Rowan Smith. Wolves answered back quickly with one, but the Jr. Warriors responded with four more to take a BIG W, moving them up to third place in league standings. Scoring the remaining 4 goals for the Jr. Warriors were defensemen Schnurr & Adam Jeffrey, both from the blue line; Dylan Abel on a breakaway & Zach Scrimgeour from Abel's rebound.
