The ‘07 Minor Peewee Rep team, sponsored by Royal LePage Hiller Realty played two league games this week and came away with 4 points.
Wednesday night the Warriors travelled to London to take on the top ranked Jr. Knights White. Always a good battle, Stratford skated away with a 3-1 win. The Warriors took an early lead when Blair Stokes tapped in a feed from Carter Petrie and Ryan Gansevles. Petrie netted one of his own to open the second, assisted by Austin Musselman and Dawson White. London came within one but netminder Zack Irvin refused to let them have anymore with timely saves throughout the game. Solid work on the blue line came from Rylan Hall, Aaron Green, Blake Hodgson and Jaxson Biernes. Stratford closed the 3-1 deal with a powerplay goal late in the third from Colin Schultz, assisted by Petrie and Gansevles.
Saturday night it was Stratford’s turn to host the London Junior Knights White. Another strong battle resulted in a 2-1 win for the Warriors. After a scoreless first period, London struck first slipping one in past netminder Ryan McGill. Stratford answered back quickly as Petrie fed Nathan Siebert who jammed it home. Later in the second Ganselves tipped in a shot from Grady Murphy for the go ahead goal. Zach Schultz worked hard down low, while Ryan McGee battled along the boards to hold the lead. Mounting pressure in the third didn’t rattle McGill as he turned away their snipers time and time again.
