The ‘07 Major Peewee Rep team, sponsored by Scotiabank struggled to get much going in three league games this weekend.
Mid week the Warriors hit the road for a battle against the top ranked London Jr. Knights White. Early in the first Nathan Siebert slid one in for Stratford, assisted by Ryan McGee. Zack Irvin stood tall in between the pipes to hold of the London attack as they looked for the equalizer, which they got in the second. Mid-way through the second Blake Hodgson came up with a huge block to hold onto the tie and then Siebert and McGee combined again capitalizing on a feed from Austin Musselman to give Stratford a 2-1 lead. Late in the third London managed to tie the game again, ending in a tie 2-2.
Saturday afternoon the boys were on the road again to take on the St. Thomas Jr. Stars. Ryan McGill was tested early and often coming up with key saves. The Stars opened the scoring in the first, but Stratford answered back with a goal from Grady Murphy. St. Thomas then pulled a head in the third 4-1.
Sunday afternoon saw a repeat matchup with the London Jr Knights White at the Willy. London scored first early in the opening minutes, sliding one past McGill. Leading 2-0, Colin Schultz finally got Stratford on the board, unassisted. But London responded quickly making it 3-1. In the dying moments the Warriors grabbed a goal from Murphy, assisted by Ryan Gansevles but it was too little too late as Stratford came up short in a 3-2 decision.
