On Sunday evening the Stratford Warriors Minor Bantam team travelled to Sarnia to take on the Sting in the first game of the regular season. Despite a strong effort with many shots on net, the Warriors fell to the Sting 3-1. The lone
goal was scored by Jericho McNichol with Jackson Campbell and Ben Fizell picking up assists.
On Monday evening the Warriors visited New Hamburg to battle the Huskies in another exhibition game. The Warriors set the tone early and kept pressure on the Huskies, playing most of the game in the offensive zone. Stratford out shot New Hamburg and came out with a 2-0 win. Scoring for Stratford was Dylan Fischer and Jericho McNichol with assists going to Gabe Emms and Beckham McLeod. Goalies Koen Gerber and Jesse Merkel were excellent between the pipes in both games, making many key saves.
For Stratford’s next game they will travel to Branford for a tilt against the 99ers on Saturday night and then host St Thomas for their season home opener on Sunday at the Allman Arena.
