On Tuesday night the Minor Bantam Warriors travelled to the Civic Centre in Brantford for game 3 in the opening round of the 6-point playdown series. Stratford worked hard to gain control of the game but came up short in a 3-2 loss against the 99ers. Scoring for Stratford was Ben Fizell and Dylan Fischer with assists going to Jericho McNichol, Quinn Appel, Mark Pyzowski and Jackson Campbell.
Saturday night the Warriors hosted the 99ers at the Molson rink for game 4 of the series. Stratford was leaving nothing to chance this game and with perfect ice conditions courtesy of the Rotary Complex staff, the Warriors started the game in high gear and never once let off the throttle. Both teams cycled the puck well and jockeyed for position, but Stratford drew first blood with Mark Pyzowski tipping in Nathan Gibb's shot to end the first period 1-0. In the second period a flurry of shots from Stratford resulted in three more goals for Stratford scored by Jack Campbell, Dylan Fisher and Mark Pyzowski. In the third frame Ben Fizell would net the Warriors 5th goal of the evening for a comfortable lead but Brantford would grind in to score a couple of their own but it was too little too late, time expired and Stratford took the series in 4 games with a 5-2 victory. Assists on goals were Nathan Gibb (2), Mark Pyzowski, Jackson Campbell and Jericho McNichol. Warrior offence was solid, outshooting the 99ers 22-18, defence was on point and Jesse Merkel was stellar between the pipes making several key saves and kept the team in the game.
In the next series, Stratford will face the Kitchener Rangers
