Warriors Establishing Consistency in October
The Stratford Warriors Minor Midgets, sponsored by Stratford Motor
Products, welcomed the Waterloo Wolves to the Allman on Sunday in Alliance
regular season action in their lone game this weekend.
The Warriors jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and added two more in the middle frame to take a 4-0 lead into the second period intermission.
In the third period, the Warriors added two more and the Wolves scored once to end the shutout bid. Goalie Curtis Ball allowed one goal against for the second straight game, supported by strong team defensive play and some timely saves by Ball. The Wolves lone goal came with a 5-on-3 man advantage.
Jonas Schmidt and Cole Lewis each scored twice and added an assist, while Caleb Arent scored the other two goals for the Warriors. Tyler Wagler added three assists, while Drew Wilken and Ethan Scrimgeour added an assist each.
Notes: the Warriors have extended their winning streak to three games with the victory; the Warriors goaltending duo of Ball and Russel Sebben have allowed only 5 goals against in the past three games, backed by some timely saves and a much more committed team defensive unit playing in front of them; the Warriors now turn their attention to the Stratford Silver Stick Regional Qualifier, with games on Friday at 10:20am and 4:00pm, both at the RBC rink in Stratford; the Warriors open the Silver Stick against the Duffield Devils in a rematch against the team that defeated the Warriors in last year’s Silver Stick final
