You either win or
learn."

The Holloway Auto Parts Plus U10 Rep team split the weekend.

Saturday evening the boys stepped on the ice against the nervous Sarnia Jr. Sting. The game was off to a slower start offensively, until Sarnia got on the board first midway thru the period. The red, white and blue found their motivation and their offence, was on the way. With 1:37 left in the period Nate Micks' patience on the goal post paid off, with a quick tap in behind the goalie to tie the game up.

Second period had a quick start with Sarnia putting up another point. With a combination of glove saves by Nash Zacher and defensive clearing by Nick Forman the Warriors were still in the game. Josef Moss picked a puck off the boards, made a quick pass to Owen Hurley on the fly, who shot bottom corner to tie the game at 2's. With momentum on their side, Coleton Schmidt won the draw, forward a pass to winger Tyler Peck, who released a shot that Mick's tapped in, to give the boys the lead. Sarnia responded a few seconds later with a goal of their own, to end the period.

Third period, Mason Bye stopped the Sting from an early breakaway with a great back check to steal the puck. The boys had a good rush of offence in the period, but were stopped by the Sarnia's goalie and his unwillingness to allow rebounds. Nearing the end of the third Schmidt found Micks, with a pass up the middle to start the breakaway. The goalie dropped and Mick's neatly put the puck across the line, to make it 4-3. With a quick turn around the Sting had the game tied up again. :/ .. Malcolm Austin-Olsen had a good period keeping the puck in the offensive zone and holding the Sting on the boards. With the game wrapping up Schmidt gave the Warriors some breathing room, sealing a shot, assisted by Micks, quickly followed by Owen Hurley's shot glove side, top corner to end the game 6-4.

Sunday the boys travelled down a very chilly road to face off against the Kitchener Jr Rangers. The boys came out with pep and were ready to skate. First two periods there were many back and forth rushes, with Hurley making the first break thru, up the right side to put the Warriors' on the board. Defencemen Nash Riehl, played a good game behind the net, digging pucks out and pushing the Rangers up high. Ranger's snagged a couple goals to finish the second 2-1. From the back end, battling for a puck, Forman made a beauty pass to Hurley who didn't hesitate to fly one pass the goaltender, to give the Warriors' another goal. At the end of the the third, the Ranger's managed to pull ahead and the U10's weren't able to catch them, to finish the weekend with a split.
