On Saturday versus the first place London Bandits Black, the AJ
Jackson Construction Minor Atom MD Warriors put forth an aggressive effort in a
loss that did not reflect the 9-3 score.
Zach Richardson got Stratford on the board in the second period, banging in a rebound off a shot from linemate Bruce Munro.
Stratford’s second goal came on a power play in the third period, a low hard shot from the slot by Tyson Talsma, assisted by Luke
Heisz. The Warriors third goal came on the penalty kill, as Heisz finished off an end-to-end rush with another low, hard shot. Ewan Ollson assisted on the play. The game remained close, until a defensive breakdown in the third period saw five quick Bandit goals.
Goaltender Jeremy Dakin, and forward Tyson Cassone from the Novice Tier 2 Warriors provided help to the short-benched Atom MDs.
On Sunday the Warriors earned a 4-3 win in dramatic fashion against the visiting West London Hawks. In a high-intensity match-up,
the Warriors applied strong, team oriented offensive pressure, excellent passing and assertive pinching by defensemen. Liam Hill
earned a hat-trick for Stratford, with two goals in the first period and one in the third. Bruce Munro had two assists, while Zach
Richardson and Corey Jones each earned one apiece. After the Hawks knotted the game at three in the third period, Stratford
responded with relentless offensive force. With ten seconds remaining in the game, Corey Jones scored on an end-to-end rush with a
shot that blew by the London netminder, putting the Warriors up by one. Liam Hill had an assist on the play.
