Tier 3 East Novice Warriors Flying High at Hawks Cup
The Rheo Thompson Tier 3 East Warriors had a successful weekend at the Hawks Cup held in Mitchell, winning the Consolation B matchup against Lucan.

The Warriors were successful in winning 2 out of the 3 games they played to
end up facing Lucan in their final game of the weekend, winning it in a
dramatic and exciting finish. The first game of the weekend had the boys
faceoff against Listowel. The entire bench came out ready to play. Stratford
jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the 1st period and never looked back from there
as they would load up the scoreboard for a final score of 11-0. Goal scorers
for the East Warriors were Hudsyn Chaput with 4, Andrew Davis with 3, Maddyx
Chaput with 2, Finley Newton and Ethan Priestap with singles. Hudsyn Chaput
also rallied with 4 helpers, Liam Benton had a pair, Rem Hruden, Henry
Flanagan, Will McKee and Andrew Davis each had singles. Charlie Holloway,
Owen Vangestal, Mason Bauld and Nash McIlroy protected the blueline with
great pride while Blake McIntosh chipped in well winning many battles along
the boards.  Jake Taylor was stellar in the pipes recording his 2nd shutout
of the season and Ethan Priestap was named the Warriors player of the game.

The second game of the tournament had the boys up against the host Mitchell
club. Mitchell opened the scoring in the 1st but Hudsyn Chaput answered back
for Stratford with the helper going to Rem Hruden. The boys were able to
keep the game tight heading into the 3rd period only being down by a score
of 3-1, but the 3rd period would see the Meteors add 3 more to win the
contest. Charlie Holloway was awarded the player of the game for the
Warriors playing excellent on the blueline.

Sunday morning had the boys facing the Lucan Irish for the B division
Consolation game. This game proved to be the most exciting of the weekend
for the players and fans of the game. Hudsyn Chaput put the boys on the
board early with an unassisted goal. Lucan would rally back at the 2:12
minute mark of the 1st period to tie the game. At the beginning of the 3rd
period the boys would find themselves trailing 3-2 and Lucan would add to
the lead at the 6:08 minute mark to pull ahead 4-2, but Andrew Davis would
score his 2nd of the game to pull the Warriors within a goal. Helpers on the
goal were Blake McIntosh and Charlie Holloway. Davis's first goal had
assists belonging to Hudsyn Chaput and Mason Bauld. The last 5 minutes was
packed with action, Jake Taylor made some great saves to keep the boys in
the game and they continued to  mount the pressure on Lucan's tender. Hudsyn
Chaput would find the equalizer for the Warriors at  the 1:49 minute of the
3rd on a nice feed from Andrew Davis and they were not done there as 6
seconds later Maddyx Chaput burried the game winner with the assist  going
to Davis. The entire team played with the spirit of their name, WARRIORS.
Jake Taylor was awarded the player of the game.

Next action will see the boys take on Cambridge Red on Saturday in
Stratford.
